Do you know why some chicks are placed with the elephant in the cage when transported by plane

When an elephant is placed in a plane to move it  one place to another, some "chicks", meaning young chickens, are placed with it in the cage.

Indeed, chicks are placed in the elephant's cage while being transported on the plane for fear of the weight of the plane being disturbed or worse.

However, putting the chicks with the elephant makes the elephant still, never moving, for fear that it will trample on them or harm them because it has a big heart and is afraid to harm the young.
